The Song of Armandy

This is the song/poem I have been working on for the Seven Virtues LARP. The working title was the unification song, but I've forgone humility in true bardic fashion and renamed it "The Song of Armandy." (Not "A" song, "the" song) I think it is done. Phew.

I'm welcoming comments from those in the game (for content and style) and those not in the game who might just look at form and meter. I am quite open to the possibility of editing. Of course, it is hidden by a cut for the disinterested.

This is the song of Armandy,
The land forever fine and free
Hewed by a heavenly harmony.
All hail our home, our Armandy!

This tune begins upon the shore
With waves that pace and churn and roar
The singing sea, our souls restore,
May it enclose us, ever more.

And then to move unto the land
So wondrous, varied, vast and grand
See every stripe and clan and band
Of mortal life stretched on the strand.

This is the song of Armandy,
The land forever fine and free
Hewed by a heavenly harmony.
All hail our home, our Armandy!

Begin with noble Torheim's worth
A land of sea, and mountainous earth
Of art and science, there's no dearth
The cancer, dark, did they unearth.

For in the fragrant Western air
Cracked loose the doorway of despair
Filigree halls fell in the snare
To darkness beyond all repair

This is the song of Armandy,
The land forever fine and free
Hewed by a heavenly harmony.
All hail our home, our Armandy!

Now to the rocky Braemoor coast
With drinks raised high we proudly toast
This nation freer far than most
With hilly plains worth every boast.

The brave Brae heart beats fierce and sweet
In broad tavern or open street.
So vast and wide without conceit
The sky and sun finds them complete

This is the song of Armandy,
The land forever fine and free
Hewed by a heavenly harmony.
All hail our home, our Armandy!

So swift we move to Scarthan peaks,
Such firm ramparts, good defense seeks,
Imbue the land with your techniques
Since obvious strength most loudly speaks.

And Scarthan valleys, lush and rich,
Fruit vines and groves fill every niche
Prepared for winters weather switch
Root cellar fruits last to enrich.

This is the song of Armandy,
The land forever fine and free
Hewed by a heavenly harmony.
All hail our home, our Armandy!

Move further now to Albion Air
And fertile fields tended with care
In upright rows crops growing fair
To bless manors beyond compare

The Albion Sea swells fast and foams
Beyond the fields and stately homes
The monarch, proud and regal roams
Remembering deeds written in tomes.

This is the song of Armandy,
The land forever fine and free
Hewed by a heavenly harmony.
All hail our home, our Armandy!

Toward varied Vortica veer now
To halls of rose and flowery bough
Elaborate works wealth can allow
Even the weather seems to bow.

Where every meal becomes a feast
Rich wine and bread upon the least
Savoring a taste that can't be leased
In luscious layers built on increase.

This is the song of Armandy,
The land forever fine and free
Hewed by a heavenly harmony.
All hail our home, our Armandy!

At last into the wood we go
To see the land mystery might know
Enchanted realm almost aglow
With aether dreams that come and go

Within this wild with fiercest pride
The tameless dwell, play, hunt and stride.
What woodland wonders will abide,
In phantom paradise they hide.

This is the song of Armandy,
The land forever fine and free
Hewed by a heavenly harmony.
All hail our home, our Armandy!

Think that we'll sit and yield our land,
Before some dark, relentless band
Where neighbors fight but can't withstand
Shall we but wait and lend no hand?

Here shall we stand united true
All Armandy within this view
So separate, yes, through and through,
But with a fire you won't subdue.

This is the song of Armandy,
The land forever fine and free
Hewed by a heavenly harmony.
All hail our home, our Armandy!
